After receiving drawings for 8No 11-metre-high elevations, we set about producing the most efficient and cost-effective solution to meet the client’s requirements.
Given the overall scale of the artwork – including one logo measuring 20 metres in length – we recommended a spray application to achieve a consistent, high-quality finish. To ensure accuracy, we produced bespoke Correx spray templates, stacked the cladding panels in the exact sequence they would be installed on site, and supplied printed Foamex fixing templates to assist with installation.
We set to work taking drawings of any of the old, gilded designs and then started with the preparation to repaint these areas ready for signwriting and gilding. We used a 23 ¾ carat gold transfer leaf as this was the best gold for the project and aesthetics. The entire clock face was also repainted in a high gloss black finish to really enhance the gold leaf.
The work took a couple of weeks to complete and the results have been well received by all.
