SIGNMODE CASE STUDY

Vertical Screenprinting

We were asked to signwrite some highly detailed designs onto a museum wall by Displayways Group. The brief was to match hand painted fairground signage and so the main lettering was traditionally signwritten with 22No vertically screenprinted images surrounding the lettering.

Vertical Screenprinting

We were asked to signwrite some highly detailed designs onto a museum wall by Displayways Group. The brief was to match hand painted fairground signage and so the main lettering was traditionally signwritten with 22No vertically screenprinted images surrounding the lettering.

Being aware of the budget allowed for the work, we decided to vertically screenprint the 22No designs to achieve their budget and the very fine detail needed within.

We used 5 screens with the exposed stencils and a mesh to suit the emulsion paint rather than a smelly screen printing ink in the very public museum.

One thing we had to consider was the placement of the image on the screen, for example if the image was at the top of the wall then it had to be at the top of the screen and so forth.

Using tiny panel pins to hold the screen in place, and with careful quick thinking and planning, we successfully printed the 22No images on the wall.

The whole process raised a few eyebrows but everyone was very pleased with the results.
